Reese Witherspoon accidentally severed a friendship by roasting an actress who no longer talks to her.
The Legally Blonde standout is currently promoting her new film, You’re Cordially Invited, and sat down with co-star Will Ferrell on January 30 for a joint interview where she described the "embarrassing" moment that caused the A-list celeb to cut ties with her.
"It haunts me...it literally haunts me."
Witherspoon did not mention any names but was sure to clarify that it was her fault for not reading the room before roasting her former friend at a prestigious award show.
"So this friend of mine who I didn't really know that well but she was this very serious proper actress. And she asked me to give her an award. But I'd never been to this award ceremony, so I thought it was like a roast. So I got up and I roasted her. The tone was British and elegant and classy and I was like 'remember the time we got laser hair removal."
The Cruel Intentions star mentioned that she is still embarrassed about what happened and that the actress she roasted hasn't attempted to get in touch with her since.
"I'm still embarrassed about it. We're not even friends anymore. I'm not even kidding. We're not friends anymore. I don't think she likes me anymore. I thought it was so funny, but I just had the wrong audience. It was pretty bad...She doesn't even talk to me anymore."
According to Just Jared, internet sleuths have seemingly identified the entertainer who no longer talks to Witherspoon as actress Kate Winslet.
