Liam Payne has passed away at 31-years-old. The artist reportedly died after falling from a third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Ambulance workers confirmed the death of the singer, who was found in an interior hotel patio. Several witnesses shared with “TMZ” that he fell from his room on the 3rd floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel.
The artist is said to have fallen shortly after 5PM yesterday. He had apparently been acting erratically in the hotel lobby earlier in the day…reportedly smashing his laptop and having to be carried to his room. The circumstances of the fall were unclear. Hours ahead of his fall, Payne was sharing snaps of his vacation on social media, telling his fans “lovely day in Argentina” on Snapchat.
Liam Payne rose to fame at the young age of 16, when he joined the boy band One Direction in 2010, which was formed on the British TV show “The X Factor.” He had previously auditioned alone in 2008. The band was made up of Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan.
The band put out five albums, which all rose to the top of the charts. Their third album, “Midnight Memories,” became the best-selling album of 2013. The band itself is considered by many to be one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.
Payne would put out his own solo work as well. He released his debut solo album “LP1” in 2019. The lead single, “Strip That Down,” peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum. He was reportedly working on a second album, but it was recently put on pause. He did release the single “Teardrops” from that planned second album, however.
Liam leaves behind 7-year-old son, Bear, who he shared with Cheryl Cole.
