- People taking tirzepatide injections - the active ingredient in Mounjaro and Zepbound - lost more weight than those taking semaglutide - the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy, according to a new study.
- It finds patients on Ozempic lost an average of 8.3% of their body weight after a year, while those on Mounjaro lost 15.3% after a year.
- Both of the drugs are part of a new class of medications, GLP-1s, and work in similar ways, by mimicking a hormone that helps reduce appetite and food intake.
