My Twilight Podcast is Nominated for Best of Madison!

Well, something strange happened: our little Twilight podcast has been nominated for a Best of Madison award for Best Local Podcast. We're one of six podcasts in the category, and we couldn't be more honored.

My roommate, Alyssa, and I started reading each other the first Twilight book during the pandemic, largely out of boredom. It was a funny way to wind down the night and help us to be off of our phones for an hour or two. We both grew up loving the books and movies, but as we got older, we began to question the quality of writing and some of the weird themes in the books, overall leaving us with a lukewarm feeling around the series; and yet, it was still a huge piece of our childhoods.

So we took our discussions to a platform and began Say It Out Loud: The TwiHard Recovery Club Podcast. Each episode, we ask a question and try to unpack some of the narratives, themes and even pop culture moments around the Twilight craze of the 2000s. Our topics range from soundtrack reviews to questioning whether or not main characters, Bella and Edward, should even be together in the first place. For the most part, our goal is to entertain and make you remember all the weird things we all did when we were obsessed with Bella, Edward and Jacob; but our other goal is to encourage media literacy where we can read or watch a piece of media and understand some of the underlying lessons that occur between the lines.

If you haven't listened, and it sounds interesting, you can check it out on iHeartRadio or wherever you get your podcasts.

And if you'd like to vote for us, go ahead and vote below. We're in the "Arts and Entertainment" section under Local Podcast.
