Dave Grohl Enlists All-Star Band to Perform "Play" Live

In October, Warren Haynes announced the lineup for his 2018 Christmas Jam. Though the artists joining together for the charity event are all impressive — Jim James, Grace Potter, Eric Church and Warren's own Gov't Mule are all set to perform — there was one name on the bill that particularly caught our eye: Dave Grohl. The Foo Fighters band leader announced he'd be performing his 23-minute-long instrumental track "Play" during the event with "friends."

On the eve of their performance, Grohl shared who those "friends" are, and all we have to say is we're envious of anyone who gets to see this live debut tonight (December 8) in Asheville, North Carolina. Grohl will be sitting behind the kit on drums; producer Greg Kurstin will be on keys; Grohl's Them Crooked Vultures bandmate Alain Johannes will be on guitar, as will session musicians Jason Falkner and Barrett Jones; Jane's Addiction guitarist Chris Chaney will be on bass, and the Foos collaborator Drew Hester will be on percussion.

Check out the announcement below.

This will be the first time Grohl has performed the epic track live, and with that all-star band it's bound to be flawless. Eric Church, Gov’t Mule, Jim James and Joe Bonamassa are all set to perform during Christmas Jam's second night too.
