Members of Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers Cover 'Purple Rain': Watch

Over the weekend, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready formed a supergroup with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer to rock out for a good cause.

Dubbing the name Mike McCready & Friends, the trio performed at the Game Changer Gala in Seattle over the weekend. The event benefitted Team Gleason — an organization committed to ALS and other neuromuscular diseases research founded by Spokane native and former NFL player Steve Gleason after he was diagnosed with ALS in 2011.

During the concert, the all-star band played a song originally penned by another legendary musician: Prince. On a stage bathed in purple lighting, Mike McCready & Friends performed "Purple Rain" with Klinghoffer showing off his vocal prowess as lead singer.

The stage designer caught video of the performance. Watch it below.

This isn't the first time these three superstars got together for a good cause. Last month, they joined forces with Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, Stefan Lessard of Dave Matthews Band, Brad Paisley and Chris Martin of Coldplay to form Chad Smith's Super Mega Funktastic Jam Rock All Stars. The supergroup partnered up with Smith's look alike, Will Farrell, for "Will Ferrell’s Best Night of Your Life," — a  benefit for Cancer for College, which provides college scholarships to low-income, high-achieving cancer survivors.
