It’s inevitable:  The Olympic venues currently being used in Sochi, Russia will most likely be abandon once the Winter Games are finished.  Why? - Mainly because the venues have no long-term use for the future.   The facilities will likely not attract mass crowds as they do for the Olympics ever again.

It raises a good point for future Olympic cities to stress the importance of long-term planning.

In the case of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece – a majority of the venues currently sit empty and dilapidated.

Will Sochi look like this 10 years from now?
